While members of the Harvard Community are free to take advantage of Yammer, please be aware that HUIT does not offer support for it.

Why can't I log into Skype for Business?

Please make sure your Sign-in Address and User name on the Skype for Business login screen both show your Primary Harvard Email Address. That is: first_last@harvard.edu. Many people still have their University login (abc123@university.harvard.edu) as their Sign-in address. If you see your University login under Sign-in address click the Change link and replace your University login with your Primary Harvard email address.

Students and contractors accessing shared mailboxes - How do I configure Outlook 2013 to access a shared mailbox?

  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Click on Mail (Microsoft Outlook 2013)
  3. Click on Add to create new profile :

4.  E-Mail Account should be selected by default

A. Your Name – Display name for Mailbox
B. E-Mail Address – Shared Mailbox Email Address
C. Password – Leave Blank
D. Click Next

Can I use the 'Harvard University' Wireless network when accessing Office 365 email, calendar and other applications?

We do not recommend using the 'Harvard University' wireless network when accessing Office 365 email, calendar and other applications. Please make sure that you are using the 'Harvard Secure' wireless network. Outlook and other Office 365 applications  may not work properly on the unsecured 'Harvard University' wireless network.

You likely have Office 2013 or one of its components already installed on your system (i.e., Lync 2013 or Office Starter 2010). How do I open a SharePoint or OneDrive for Business document from within Word 2013?

  1. Within Word 2013 click on "FILE" and "Open"
  2. If you don't see "SharePoint" or "OneDrive" listed in your places click "Add a Place"
  3. Click either "Office 365 SharePoint" or "OneDrive" depending on the location of the desired file
  4. If prompted to "Add a service" enter the username you use to log in to SharePoint then click "Next" and enter the password you use to log in to SharePoint, making sure "Keep me signed in" is checked on
  5. In the column listing locations click on "Sites - Harvard University"
